How we’re building a conscious business

We at Ceremony are intentional about the kind of company we’re building, thinking not just about the present but about our impact on the earth and our stakeholders in the long term.

One of our board members, Elizabeth Ross Holmstrom, is the Founder of Mindful Employer and is an expert in building purpose-based organizations. Her guidance has helped inspire us to have clarity around our purpose and our practices from the beginning.

Me

It starts with an understanding of our “why” and greater purpose for Ceremony. For me, this translates into helping people honor, heal and celebrate the events of life. I’ve seen how powerful and transformative ceremony has been in my own life and I want to share it with others in hopes that it will be just as impactful.

We

The next phase includes how we engage with our stakeholders. For now this includes our customers, suppliers, the community, and the planet and as we grow, with our employees and possible investors.

World

The final stage focuses on our impact in the world. This is the long game and includes regenerative personal and business practices that eliminate suffering and create joy and healing in every interaction with Ceremony.

We launched 6 months ago in May of 2021. At this early stage in our journey, creating a conscious business means being really intentional about where and how our products are sourced and being transparent about that with the Ceremony community.

Our practices are:

Comprehensive:

Through guidance, meditation, inspiration, research, and help from experts, our boxes are designed to cultivate sacred, inspired space and bring people into presence and reverence for their life.

Share Wisdom

We strive to educate recipients on the products selected for each box, including elements that moved us from a particular wisdom teaching and were incorporated into the ceremony.

Direct Sourcing

We respectfully draw wisdom from teachings, guidance, and practices around the world that represent the collective. While many of our products are used broadly by multiple cultures, if we are drawn to include something that represents a specific tradition, it is sourced directly from people of that heritage.

Eco-Conscious

Sustainably sourcing packaging, like FSC certified boxes that come from responsibly managed forests and packing supplies that are recyclable, biodegradable, and contain recycled content, is very important to us.

We continue to open our hearts and minds to new and ancient teachings and employ business practices that are mindful of our ecological footprint. As we do so, we maintain a humble, open spirit and encourage our treasured clients to do the same. For more information, check out our practices here.
